Winemaker's Notes

The Johnstons were at one time among the most powerful of the border clans. They settled originally in Annandal, and have for over six hundred years held extensive possessions on the western marches. James Johnston, the chief of the clan, was created Lord Johnston of Lochwood by Charles I in 1633. Ten years later, Charles I made hum Earl of Hartfell and Annandale.
