Handpicked fruit from our gnarly, old POW Bush Vine block, aptly named after the Italian Prisoners of War who planted the vineyard in the early 1970’s. Situated over two lateral layers of Ironstone, the vines are dry grown producing incredibly small yields, delivering a Grenache of fragrant beauty, power and poise. We matured 50% of the wine in new 600lt French oak puncheon’s and the other 50% matured in older French and American oak to maintain primary fruit. This bright and vibrant wine exhibits a bouquet of red rose, spicy raspberry, pomegranate and red cherry, with hints of subtle nutty cedary oak. With the palate delivering raspberry puree, dried cranberry, red currant and nutmeg, intermingled with Christmas pudding and spices.
A quintessential McLaren Vale Grenache.
